DDR

Today I received a new set of animated shorties, which were all made between 1964-89 in the DDR (East-Germany). Sounds so black and white, grey and boring with a hint or a pile of depressiveness. Just perfect after an evening with a splendid red wine Ravens Wood zinfandel (California). I don't know what it is that makes me to like these dark and depressing animation films, maybe it is because when I was a kid some of my friends lived in Merihaka and I spent some time hanging around there and playing - I guess I got myself concrete roots. I couldn't find any of those filmclips from youtube, but I think this one (animation that I watched as a kid) can give you the same feeling, it is about friendship. And a favorite song from couple of years ago with a DDR refer and with a very Finnish accent: Back in the DDR by Kari Peitsamo & Risto. Hilarious lyrics.
